4 good reasons to choose a RV for your USA trip
Planning an American road trip but can't decide between renting a car or RV?
Personally, I have no hesitation in choosing the RV, and I'm hoping to convince you
Here are my 4 good reasons for choosing this option for your next trip to the USA.
#1. For the freedom
Driving from place to place, taking your time, with no precise itinerary or schedule, is the very definition of freedom.
Well, I'll be honest, in high season (June to September) it's not ideal to travel without an itinerary because you'll end up faced with fully-booked campgrounds and you didn't come all this way to sleep in a Walmart parking lot!
That said, some campgrounds operate on a first come, first served basis.
My various road trips in the United States took place in October/November and February, and I never had any trouble finding a campsite. Some were even free at that time of year. It's up to you to adapt to the season when you'll be travelling.
One thing's for sure, whatever month you end up travelling America's roads, you can decide to stop for a picnic at a scenic viewpoint, watch the sun set before hitting the road again, or take a nap after a strenuous hike.
Travelling by RV means always having the comforts of home with nature at your doorstep.
#2. To be in the heart of the great outdoors
It's a bit like going to Disneyland, going to bed, and waking up with front-row seats. But 1,000 times better. And I love Disneyland!
As I mentioned above, travelling by RV gives you unparalleled comfort, right at the heart of some of the most breathtaking places on the planet.
To give you an idea of the locations you could enjoy, take a look at my TOP 10 most beautiful landscapes in the Southwestern United States.
When I think back to my road trips, I remember having a cocktail in Death Valley with a view of the Sierra Nevada, or cooking early morning pancakes in Arches before a long day of hiking.
And that day I woke up in Yellowstone surrounded by elk...
Travelling by RV means trading 5-star hotels for sleeping under 5 million stars...
Every night.
You're welcome to read my other two good reasons, but I think this argument is strong enough to have convinced you once and for all
#3. To save on your meal budget
As well as being able to eat a healthy, varied diet using products you like, it will cost you considerably less than daily meals in a restaurant.
RVs are well laid out and are equipped with a full kitchen with a fridge, gas stove and plenty of storage space.
So as well as saving money, you'll be saving time, as you'll be able to stock up on groceries for several days at a time.
When you're spending time in the middle of nature, in places that are each more beautiful than the last, going shopping is a chore.
And don't hesitate to encourage small village grocery shops or roadside stands selling fresh fruit and vegetables.
#4. For everyday practicality
Let's get back to restaurants. There are times when you'll be driving for miles and miles through unspoilt wilderness.
That won't be a problem, as you'll have everything on hand to keep your hunger at bay.
Need to go to the bathroom? Just pull over and that's it. It's especially convenient when you've got kids who can't hold it in.
Want to cool off after a hike in the sun, before hitting the road again? A quick shower and you're on your way, refreshed and ready to go.
Feeling tired in the middle of the day? Settle into your cozy bed and get some rest.
Craving an ice cream in the middle of the desert? Just open the freezer and help yourself. If you're looking for the practical side of this argument, imagine yourself with children: it's much easier to negotiate armed with sugar and chocolate
I bet you're already looking at the price of RV rentals in the USA...
