Tampa is also known for the performances of its numerous professional sports teams, but the most popular attraction in the city remains the Busch Gardens amusement park.

A visit to St. Petersburg, located on the other side of the bay, is a must. While Tampa is more the business city, St. Petersburg is distinguished by its culture and arts. Together, the two cities form the second largest metropolitan area in Florida.

Busch Gardens is very busy, especially from Friday to Sunday, between the months of March and August. Arrive early, to avoid the long line at the entrance. The park has 12 different sections and it's a good idea to start with the rides, which are also less crowded at the start of the day. Bringing food and drinks is prohibited, you will find drinks available at the cafés and restaurants on site. Buy your tickets online to get discounts.

The Ybor City District: Cigar Capital of the World!

Vicente Martinez Ybor opened a cigar factory in the city of Tampa in 1886 which quickly became the largest manufacturing plant in the world. Many Cuban, Spanish, and Italian workers settled in Ybor City. By 1930, the decline of the cigar industry led to the closure of many factories and the abandonment of the neighborhood. Since 1990, Ybor City has experienced a revival with the restoration of many buildings and the opening of new businesses. Its charm now attracts many visitors who stroll along 7^th Avenue, the neighborhood's main artery.

The Dali Museum

It's the treasure of the city! In the 1940s, a couple from Ohio, A. Reynolds and Eleanor Morse, became friends with the great Spanish artist Salvador Dali and his wife Gala. They then embarked on an extraordinary collection of their friend's paintings, sculptures and drawings, which they choose to exhibit in St. Petersburg. The current museum building, created in the image of the artist and his surrealist art, was inaugurated on January 11, 2011. The collection covers Dali's entire life. The large format paintings are not to be missed, as well as the visit to the Mediterranean gardens outside.

Museum of Fine Arts

This museum of fine arts houses works by different artists from around the world. The collections are exhibited in rotation. The rooms featuring European art are particularly interesting, as are those dedicated to American art. There are also oriental sculptures and collections of objects from ancient Greece and Rome.

Chihuly Collection

This museum is dedicated to the works of the world-renowned glass sculptor, Dale Chihuly. The architecture of the building and Chihuly's art combine here to offer you a unique experience. The exhibition starts at the entrance with a 20-foot iconic sculpture. You can also visit the Glass Studio & Hot Shop at the Morean Arts Center, where glassblowers create pieces before your eyes. St. Pete Beach

The small seaside community of St. Pete Beach boasts a beautiful beach bordered by the calm waters of the gulf. There are multiple access points on Gulf Boulevard, including Pass A Grille, at the southern tip, surrounded by charming motels. You will find, further north, the serene beaches of Treasure Island.

Fort de Soto Park

In 1849, a military post was built at the mouth of Tampa Bay, and later a defense line was erected. In 1898, the construction of the fort began, but no battles took place. Today it spans 5 islands connected by a road, offering several kilometers of beaches, lagoons, forests, and mangroves. A wide variety of activities are offered in the park. In addition to swimming, hiking, and fishing, you can rent bikes, canoes, and kayaks. A catering service is also available.

About 50 kilometers from St. Petersburg, there is a 7 km long barrier island offering magnificent white sand beaches. Columbia Restaurant ($$)

The oldest restaurant in Florida is located in Tampa, in the Ybor City neighborhood. It has been owned by the same family since it opened in 1905. Founded by Cuban immigrant Casimiro Hernandez Sr., Columbia is also the largest Spanish restaurant in the world. The service, the food, and the atmosphere, everything is there, you will not be disappointed. There are also flamenco dance performances in the evening (except on Sunday). Reservation recommended.

Bern is the iconic steakhouse of Tampa. Open since 1956, the experience waiting for you here is unique.
