Top 5 campgrounds in the American West
Planning a holiday by RV in the USA?
Before you leave, it is important to note that you can't always sleep wherever you like, or stop for more than 4 hours in a roadside rest area.
You will need to spend your nights in a designated campground, where you will find safety and all the essential services. Plus, you won't wake up with a hefty fine to pay!
So here is a list of the 5 most beautiful campgrounds on the US West Coast, according to Authentik travellers.
#1. Yellowstone KOA
Located less than 12 kilometres from Yellowstone National Park and 60 kilometres from Old Faithful, Yellowstone KOA is an excellent option if you're travelling by RV.
The sites are large, and many offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
In addition to full hookups, this campground offers a ton of services: laundromat, restaurant, bicycle rental, indoor pool, Wi-Fi, etc.
#2. Malibu Beach RV Park
Camping within an hour of one of the largest cities in the United States is certainly not impossible.
This campground is located in Malibu, a wealthy beach city just west of Los Angeles.
Reserved for RVs only, the sites are on the side of the mountain and offer breathtaking ocean views.
Lulled by the gentle sound of the waves, you'll sleep like a baby!
The campground offers indoor facilities including arcades and a TV room, a convenience store, a laundromat, a dump station, and washroom facilities with toilets and showers.
#3. Goulding's RV Park
Located right at the entrance to Monument Valley, you will enjoy front row seats to watch the sun rise and set over Eagle Mesa and Brigham’s Tomb.
The staff is very friendly, and there is a free shuttle every 30 minutes between the campground and the main lodge complex.
For your entertainment, guests have access to the indoor pool at Goulding’s Lodge, as well as the theatre, which plays classic westerns.
The campground has a propane filling station and a dump station. Wireless Internet and washrooms with toilets and showers are also available.
#4. Ruby's Inn Campground
Less than a kilometre from Bryce Canyon National Park is Ruby’s Inn Campground, which is owned by a well-known hotel chain.
All sites are designed to accommodate RVs and offer three hookups: water, electricity and sewer.
The campground offers a convenience store for your basic needs, a laundromat, and washrooms with toilets and showers.
There is also a small pool where you can cool off after a day of hiking.
Another advantage: the park shuttle stops just outside the campground entrance.
#5. Grand Canyon – Mather Campground
Mather Campground is located at the south entrance of Grand Canyon National Park.
The campground can accommodate RVs, but most of the sites are for tents. Note that only 5 sites can accommodate vehicles longer than 27 feet.
There are washrooms with showers and toilets, a dump station at the exit, a laundromat, and pay phones on site.
In addition, there is plenty of wildlife: don't be surprised if a deer invites itself to breakfast with you!
And there you go!
And above all, don't forget to book your US RV rental several months in advance.
